ETSY FEES · 2026 GUIDE

Etsy fees explained, without the guesswork.

The sale price is not your payout, and your payout is not your profit. Here is where Etsy's main charges enter the order, which ones apply only sometimes, and how to check the result before you list.

The quick answer

For a standard Etsy Payments order, most sellers need to account for at least three charges: the $0.20 listing or renewal fee, Etsy's 6.5% transaction fee, and the payment processing fee for the country where their bank account is located.

That is only the starting point. An order may also carry an Offsite Ads fee, a currency conversion fee, a Regulatory Operating fee, VAT or another tax on seller fees, shipping label costs, and optional Etsy services.

A useful rule

Do not add one universal “Etsy fee percentage” to every product. Some fees are fixed, some use different calculation bases, and some apply only to certain orders or seller locations.

The core Etsy fees

FeeCurrent Etsy ruleWhat it means for pricing
Listing fee$0.20 USD when a listing is published or renewed. The fixed charge matters more on low-priced products and additional quantities.
Transaction fee6.5% of the order total in the listing currency, including buyer-paid shipping and gift wrap.Charging shipping separately does not keep it outside this fee.
Payment processingA country-specific percentage plus a fixed amount for each Etsy Payments order.Use the rate tied to your bank-account country, not the buyer's country.

1. Listing and renewal fee

Etsy charges $0.20 USD when you publish a listing. A listing normally expires after four months unless it sells or is renewed. When an auto-renewed item sells, the standard listing fee is charged again.

For multi-quantity listings, Etsy can also charge $0.20 for each additional quantity sold after the first item. One order with three units can therefore create more than one listing fee.

2. Transaction fee

The transaction fee is 6.5% of the total order amount in your listing currency. Etsy includes the item price, buyer-paid shipping and gift wrapping in that base. The fee appears only when an item sells.

3. Etsy Payments processing fee

Payment processing is separate from the 6.5% transaction fee. It combines a percentage with a fixed charge per order, and the rate depends on the location of your payment bank account. Etsy's current table lists, for example, 4% + €0.30 for Bulgaria and many other euro-area countries. Rates can differ for domestic and international orders in some countries.

The processing base includes the item price, shipping and applicable sales tax. Because the fixed component is charged per order, it takes a larger share of a small sale than a large one.

Fees that apply only in some cases

Offsite Ads

If a buyer clicks an Etsy Offsite Ad and completes a purchase from your shop within 30 days, Etsy may charge an advertising fee on the attributed order.

  • 15% when your shop has always made less than $10,000 USD in any consecutive 365-day period.
  • 12% after your shop reaches at least $10,000 USD in a consecutive 365-day period.
  • The fee is capped at $100 USD per order.

Shops below the threshold can opt out. Once a shop crosses the threshold, participation is required for the lifetime of that shop. This is why a product can look profitable on an ordinary order and weak on an Offsite Ads order.

Currency conversion

If your listing currency differs from the currency of your payment account, Etsy charges a 2.5% conversion fee on the sale amount when it converts the funds. Listing in your payment-account currency can avoid this particular seller charge, even though buyers can still view prices in their own currency.

Regulatory Operating fee

Etsy currently applies a Regulatory Operating fee to sellers in the UK, France, Italy, India, Spain, Türkiye, Vietnam and Canada. The percentage depends on the country and is charged on the order total including item price, shipping and gift wrap, but excluding tax collected by Etsy.

Taxes on seller fees

VAT, GST or another local tax may be charged on Etsy seller services and payment processing fees. This is different from buyer tax that Etsy collects and remits. Check the VAT or tax invoice in your Payment account, because the treatment depends on your location and business registration.

Optional services

Etsy Ads, Etsy Plus, shipping labels, Pattern and deposit fees are not part of every standard order. Treat them as separate advertising, subscription, shipping or banking costs. Do not hide them inside one percentage unless you have converted them into a realistic cost per order.

A worked fee example

Imagine a US seller receives a $50 item order with $5 shipping. The seller uses the common US processing assumption of 3% + $0.25, and the order did not come from an Offsite Ad.

Example order total: $55.00

Listing fee$0.20
Transaction fee, 6.5%$3.58
Processing, 3% + $0.25$1.90
Estimated Etsy fees$5.68

The estimated payout before product cost, postage, packaging, tax obligations and overhead is $49.32. If a 15% Offsite Ads fee applied, it would add $8.25 and reduce that amount to $41.07 before the seller's own costs.

This is an illustration, not a universal rate. Country-specific processing, tax, currency and regulatory charges can change the result.

Etsy fees are not the same as total cost

Marketplace fees are only one side of the sale. Your actual profit also needs to cover materials or product cost, labor, packaging, postage, import costs, returns, software, advertising and other overhead.

A simple profit view is:

Profit = seller revenue - Etsy fees - direct costs - allocated overhead

Profit margin is then profit divided by seller revenue, multiplied by 100.

Markup and margin are not interchangeable. Adding 30% to cost does not create a 30% profit margin once marketplace fees enter the calculation.

What to check before setting a price

  1. Open Shop Manager, then Finances and Payment account.
  2. Check the processing percentage and fixed fee for your bank-account country.
  3. Confirm whether Regulatory Operating fees or tax on seller fees apply.
  4. Price-test both a normal order and an Offsite Ads order.
  5. Add product cost, labor, shipping and overhead before judging profit.
  6. Review the result again after discounts or currency conversion.
